Eat.Sleep.Do. is a local discovery platform for restaurants, accommodation and activities (“EAT / SLEEP / DO”). The platform is operated by Marai Digital, trading as Eat.Sleep.Do., at Warmoesstraat 33, 1791 CN Den Burg (Texel), the Netherlands. Chamber of Commerce number: 96093706. Email: hello@eatsleepdo.com.
Marai Digital is the controller for the personal data processed through eatsleepdo.com, as described in this policy.
Depending on how you use the platform, we process:
Visitors to the guide (without an account)
Business owners with an account (claiming a listing)
Visitors who leave an experience
We process no special categories of personal data and our platform is not aimed at children. That holds for video too: image and sound only become special-category data when they are processed by technical means to identify someone uniquely — facial recognition, in short. We do not do that, and we do not intend to.
If you record or add a video, it first goes to private storage within the EU that is not publicly accessible. There the recording is converted into a format that plays on any device, and a still frame is taken from it as a preview.
That conversion runs on our own server in the EU. No third-party video service is involved. Only the converted version and the preview become public; the original stays private.
We do not analyse your video. No facial recognition is applied to it, and no attempt is made to identify who appears in it.
The guide shows reputation information partly sourced from Google. Specifically, on business pages we show:
This Google data is fetched live at the moment you view the page and is not stored by us — no ratings, no review text, no names, no photos. What we do store is the place ID Google assigns to a business: a technical identifier with no content, which Google expressly permits us to keep, and which holds the link between a listing and the right location.
Our own reputation score is a measure we calculate ourselves and not a copy of the Google rating.
By using this platform you are using Google Maps/Google Places. Google's terms and privacy policy also apply to that use: Google Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy.
We deliberately do not load the Google Maps map automatically: you open it yourself with a button. Only when you open the map can Google set cookies. More on this in our Cookie Policy.

Your experience we keep for as long as it is published on Eat.Sleep.Do. That is deliberately not a fixed period: an experience is a public judgement about a business, and it stands for as long as the listing does. It goes when you withdraw your consent, when we remove it following a report, or when the business leaves the guide.
We never sell your data. We do use service providers who process data on our behalf, solely for the purposes above:
We have data processing agreements with these parties. Some may process data outside the EEA; where that happens we ensure appropriate safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses).
The business you write an experience about is not a processor of ours. Under the consent you give when submitting, that business may also show your experience on its own website — and, if you gave the separate consent, use it in its marketing. What the business does with it, it decides itself; we do not decide that for them. You can take questions about that use to the business, and you can always also come to us at hello@eatsleepdo.com.
We use only cookies that are necessary for the platform to work, and we measure usage without cookies. We set no tracking or advertising cookies. We load Google Maps only when you open the map yourself. The full explanation is in our Cookie Policy.
Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection.
Withdrawing consent. If you left an experience, there are two separate choices, and you can withdraw them independently:
One thing we cannot promise. Once a video has been used in marketing, we can take it off our own channels and stop any running advertising — but we cannot recall what others have already shared or saved. We would rather say that beforehand than afterwards.
Withdrawing consent takes effect from the moment you tell us; it does not undo what lawfully happened before then.

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, role-based access restriction and passwordless authentication. Our database and file storage are in the EU, and video originals sit in private storage that is not publicly accessible.
