A trip for all ages – smooth, scenic sailing with stunning coastal views along the way. We spotted plenty of seals, including some adorable baby seals resting on the beach!
Very nice experience!!! Excellent🦭
For today I had booked a trip with "Vaartochten Texel De Vrijheid" to see several types of seals on a sandbank in the Wadden Sea. There are quite a few seals living here. The skipper gave a good and clear explanation and answered questions from passengers. There was room for 12 passengers, who could sit both inside and outside. The lady at the counter also provided a perfect customer-oriented custom service. I can recommend this 90-minute boat trip with the full 100%.
It's quite a distance to the place the seals snooze and swim, but this boat is fast and a fun way to get there at a reasonable price. Pleasent commentary and some educational information. Skipper was willing to manoeuvre the boat around so we can get a decent view, and had a few tricks up his sleeve for the kids too. Perhaps other boats spend longer out at the sandbanks, but this was a nice experience and honestly you're not going to stroke wild animals however you travel, so you might want to travel on a fast boat and get your sightseeing done in a fun an efficient manner such as this. Reccomended.
Made the trip this week, the price for a family 2 adults and 2 kids (3&5) was 60€. Price was not shown anywhere that could have been a bit more transparent. The first 1/2 hour was a drive to the lower end of Texel where we had to turn around cause of fog and it was said we can’t see seals. Then we turned around and drove for another half hour, ended up a place in the water where on low tide is a sand bench where the seals hang out. We saw a couple peak out of the water 30-50 meter away, but at the most we spent 5-10 min there then we headed back to make the 1,5h tour on time. I felt a little let down for the statement 100% seal view. I understand there is some risk to these kinds of tours but I would have expected a second chance that day or so. Again this would have been a nice tour without the fog but how the situation was handled wasn’t really appropriate and once back the next group headed for the same dilemma.
