I loved it here. Busy but the staff are on it. The lamb shank was so good. Great rangeof beers and the staff help you make tasty choices.
I fell in love with this splace since the first minute. Staff was so friendly and helpful that I was suprised, comparing to my other experience in NL. Food here is not sophisticated but you can easily find something for meat lovers as well as vegetarians.Dishes are very tasteful - try lamb ribs.My seabrass from oven was amazing. Plus I like the cosy atmosphere of typical Dutch pub. It is often crowded in the evening,so please better book table in advance. I do recommend this place.
I have been going from time to time to Texel and have gotten a soft spot for Den Burg. I discovered this pearl last time i was here and this weekend i was able to grab a bite here for the first time, but man... it won't be the last. My girl had a Cheese fondue with extra dip inclusing caramelised apple. This combined with the cheese was a nice refreshing combination for her. Also proving a point vegitarians and meat eaters can co-exits with eachother. I took the Spare ribs combination with 1 smoked rack of Sparribs and 2 marinated ones. Man the marinated ones were so lovely and tasty, the smoked non marinated rack was a bit more chewy and totally different of structure and taste. To be honest the smoked was a nice try and a new experience but if you dont like chewy ribs this is not your thing. But does prove a point that good ribs have a fantastic taste just with the correct seasoning.
This was the best meal I've had in the last two weeks of travel. The lamb stew was exceptional, and onion soup was very high quality too. The staff were accommodating in finding us a table as a last-minute drop-in. I hope to come back to Texel and this restaurant in future!
I recently visited this restaurant on Texel Island in the Netherlands for dinner on a Friday night. Having made a reservation in advance, we were pleased to find our table already prepared upon arrival. The reception we received was warm and welcoming, setting a positive tone for the evening. As we settled in, we were promptly served with two beers and handed menus in English, which was greatly appreciated. The initial bar area had a lively ambiance with a wide selection of tap beers available. At the far end of the bar, there was a charming lighthouse that served as the restaurant area, adding a unique touch to the setting. For our meal, we opted for the marinated and smoked mix of spare ribs and the lamb stew. The spare ribs were decent but fell short of the exceptional quality praised by other reviewers. I would personally rate them at 3 stars. On the other hand, the lamb stew was enjoyable, with tender meat and pleasing flavors, deserving of 4 stars. To conclude our dining experience, we indulged in a delightful strawberry cheesecake for dessert, which I would easily give a well-deserved 5-star rating. Overall, the gastronomic experience at this restaurant was average. While the food didn't surpass expectations, the exceptional service provided by the staff and the pleasant vibe of the place elevated the overall experience.
