What was supposed to be a pretty nice afternoon with the three of us ended with a nasty "aftertaste" due to the appalling treatment by the employee/owner. When picking up the scooter and e-chopper, the gentleman who helped us was quite nice but also a bit curt, and the explanation was minimal. He insisted on the hairnet, because otherwise my friend wouldn't get the helmet. And to my son: "You're not riding. Not anywhere, not even somewhere where I can't see you." Maybe it's sarcasm, a certain kind of humor, but come on, these are your customers. The brief explanation caused problems later on; I had questions. Among other things, we couldn't get the flap open to connect the e-chopper's spare battery. I called about this twice in the afternoon, but no one answered. As a result, we walked a bit and sat somewhere longer to conserve battery. Additionally, the scooter was making strange noises. Upon our return, partly due to this situation and our own estimation, we were unfortunately well over fifteen minutes late. This was not polite of us, and I wanted to offer a proper apology immediately. But I didn't get the chance; this gentleman's reaction was downright despicable. He immediately accused me personally of having deliberately planned it this way (?!). Because, he said, "you already mentioned it this afternoon. I knew it then." Appalling remarks... I had indeed asked what time you need to be back, a perfectly normal question. Without asking questions or listening to our story, he continued to judge angrily and even repeat it. I offered twice to pay extra for the overrun. His response was joking: "I have plenty of money, money doesn't matter to me, I just want to go home at 6 o'clock." Of course, I understand that someone wants to go home on time, but that is simply not how you treat customers. A decent conversation was not possible with this man.

Fast service. Owner doesn't like chit chat, he just gives bikes, and scan your document, and that is it.

I love renting my bike from Van Tongelen's bike shop. The bikes are always in good condition and the staff are very friendly. I got a great Gazelle ebike this year. Loved it!

Great communication, fair prices and flexible service. My second time here. I can’t understand the one star ratings. Everybody who works with customers, will understand the situations of the owner. See you next time!
