The trip was lovely; we enjoyed the good weather and saw seals from afar and birds up close. Unfortunately, I had an accident. There was a stretch where the waves were rough, and the captain didn't slow down. I lost my balance, and when I fell, I twisted my ankle and couldn't walk anymore. The captain wasn't kind (his colleague did attend to me, giving me a cold compress). When we arrived at the port, the captain demanded I walk quickly because he had to make another trip (he was quite rude), and I couldn't walk. I had to crawl down the stairs without help. (The accident site has no safety railings or non-slip flooring.) The captain was very arrogant. "Hey, I have an injury, I can't walk, do you understand? You idiot." Fortunately, the ticket seller did try to contact emergency services and was empathetic. Did she record the incident? Anyone can have an accident, even the most experienced, but the person in charge should be empathetic, regardless of the error, and protect their crew. Disappointing.
While I absolutely value freedom of speech, I think the skipper wearing a Trump shirt is inappropriate and shows profound lack of professionalism and sensibility towards international guests, partly belonging to ethnic or religious groups currently being suppressed by this racist regime. The tour on the ANNA itself was rather boring with almost no explanation by the crew… I think, there are better options available in Oudeschild.
Had a really fun trip today. You do run the risk of getting wet from splashing water. A camera with good zoom is recommended; my camera has a 3000mm lens (P1000) because I normally photograph birds. A good pair of your own binoculars is also recommended. There are free binoculars on the boat, but they are of poor quality. Coffee costs a euro or so.
Amazing experience. We booked first but got cancelled because of the bad weather. Refund was very fast. We went back the next day and were lucky to be able to go out with a nice sunny day yo see the seals. Our captain was super nice funny and had a lot of good stories to tell. We recommend. We could seat inside or outside, there’s also very clean toilets and you can borrow binoculars to see the seals. Thank you very much for this lovely experience. Abby & Maarten
They called to cancel our trip an hour before departure, because it was raining. We travelled from the other side of the country with a guest from an other country. We just arrived to the island, when they let us know, that no boat today. We called other companies, they were fully booked and they did not cancel their program, so it was possible to sail. So we travelled hours and spent money for nothing. Maybe if they call in time, we could choose an other day for this program.
