Hotel Den Burg

I would like to present this situation fairly and also acknowledge my own mistakes: The booking was made spontaneously in the evening (around 9 PM), as I have done many times before via Booking.com. Unfortunately, I did not fully check that the hotel can only be reached by ferry and that the ferry was no longer operating at that time. In addition, a landline phone number was mistakenly provided, and I did not have the Booking.com app installed, so I did not receive the hotel’s messages in time. These are points I will definitely pay closer attention to in the future. However, the full situation was clearly explained to the hotel: it was physically impossible for us to arrive because the ferry was no longer running due to our failed planning. This was not a case of simply choosing not to show up, but rather an unfortunate combination of circumstances and external factors. No arrival or overnight stay took place. What I find very concerning is that there was absolutely no willingness to find a solution or show any goodwill. Despite the explanation of the situation, the hotel strictly insisted on the “non-refundable” policy. There was no attempt to find a compromise or to consider the exceptional circumstances. Therefore, my clear advice to future guests: Be extremely cautious when booking non-refundable rates at this hotel. If something goes wrong—even for understandable reasons—you should expect no flexibility or understanding at all. I have made many spontaneous bookings in the past and never experienced such an issue. This makes it even more disappointing that the hotel did not even attempt to resolve the situation in a fair and reasonable manner. Very unfortunate.

The worst place I ever stayed in. A real hole with 0 comfort. We came with family and rented a “family suite” with two rooms. No ventilation, torn curtains, fungi in a bathroom, no air conditioning, rooms filled with mosquitoes, nothing to breathe in rooms, dirty greasy floors, absolutely no sound isolation between suites, so you can hear how people talk there, walk or go to the toilet, the hotel is near very noisy road. I couldn’t sleep the whole night and I never visited such a hole, even though we traveled a lot through very poor countries. Never coming back here again. Does not worth even a second of my life. I am sitting ready to leave this place in the middle of the night, so this is probably the only thing you should know about this “hotel”.

Great experience staying in Texel at Den Burg. We had such an enjoyable long weekend there. The breakfast was delicious. We walked around the town where there was a local carnival ongoing. The rooms were super spacious and the shower pressure was lovely after a day at the beach and dunes.

Hi, I spent one night in this hotel and it was a very good time. I was very happy when I saw the breakfast buffet, I can say that was one of the best hotel breakfasts of my life. The staff is very kind, there is a covered space where you can charge the e-bike. Suggested.

We have spent a weekend in texel for the first time and we have chosen this great hotel for our staying. We booked the room with balcony and we have been really happy with it. The room in big enough and the service is great, you can find all of what you need and the housekeeper comes every day to check if you need anything. Breakfast was delicious. We have really enjoyed it. Thank you to all the staff to take cafe of the guests so well. We felt at home. Hope to be back soon.
