Museum Kaap Skil

This was a rather spontaneous visit and we were gladly surprised by every exhibition corner. From the fantastic and very much 'alive' model of the historic harbour, to the rescued treasure pieces (includingthe famous dress), and the preservation of the old houses and workshop in the buildings outside (the mill is a highlight). Recommended for kids and adults, and go with some time (we had to rush a bit at the end).

Great Museum with a value for money. Exhibits are well thought out and many are interactive. It really gives you a perspective of Texel from the days when it was a central point of shipping and how the Dutch shipping routes changed the world. Easy to spend a whole day here.

My partner got to wear a replica of the dress! Amazing experience. Great museum that gives a unique insight into Dutch history, definitely worth the visit.

I enjoyed this museum very much. There is so much to see here. Love the different small houses showcasing the history. You even get to climb the windmill there. There is also 3 small live performance for crochet, rope making and you get to eat freshly smoked makereel.

What an interesting place. So much to see and learn about the area and it’s history. The windmill was great to look around as was the traditional village showing Dutch life from times gone by. The large collection of beach finds I found engrossing and spent a long time exploring it. All the exhibits are in multiple languages which was nice. Very well presented attraction and the cafe and gift shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. A recommended place to visit. Especially on a rainy day.
